Our brief was to transform a neglected rarely used garden into a low maintenance tropical retreat suitable for both entertaining on a grand scale and children.
The focal point of the garden is a stunning thatched African Boma Gazebo open on all sides with seating for 6 to 8 adults and set into a dense jungle planting of bamboo, ferns and palms. Heating and the option of pull down covers for the gazebo offers protection from the elements, which in a UK climate is an absoute bonus.
Having no lawn makes this garden very low maintenance. The 60m sq ipe hardwood deck provides lavish entertaining space whilst the children are catered for by providing a large trampolene screened from the garden itself by a grove of bamboo.
Bamboo also provides screening from the neighbours and acts as a back drop to a lush tropical planting of palm trees, tree ferns, banana and other exotic architectural plants. Hot splashes of colour are provided by the canna lilies used sparingly around the garden as accents.We also provided wireless mood lighting to make this a garden for entertaining by night as well as by day. and of course computerised irrigation to further enhance the low maintenance aspect of the garden......Must be the Most Exotic Garden in London.
